THURS., 24TH JULY, 2014 THE ARK OF GOD DAILY DEVOTION - By M. O. Emmanuel Ministries TOPIC: MARRIAGE (PART 8) Sub Topic: Does Marriage Exist After Resurrection? TEXT: Mark 12:18-28 18 “Then the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to him with a question. 19 Teacher, they said, Moses wrote for us that if a mans brother dies and leaves a wife but no children, the man must marry the widow and have children for his brother. 20 Now there were seven brothers. The first one married and died without leaving any children. 21 The second one married the widow, but he also died, leaving no child. It was the same with the third. 22 In fact, none of the seven left any children. Last of all, the woman died too. 23 At the resurrection whose wife will she be, since the seven were married to her? 24 Jesus replied, Are you not in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God? 25 WHEN THE DEAD RISE, THEY WILL NEITHER MARRY NOR BE GIVEN IN MARRIAGE; THEY WILL BE LIKE THE ANGELS IN HEAVEN. 26 Now about the dead rising — have you not read in the book of Moses, in the account of the bush, how God said to him, I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? 27 He is not the God of the dead, but of the living. You are badly mistaken! Mark 12:18-27 (NIV) My dear, just as the story goes; Jesus Christ proved to the Sadducees that there is no marriage after death. This should put us on the alert mood to choose our life partners carefully since the devil has never stopped using some of those whom we accept as our spouse in hurting and causing our fire for the Lord and His work to quench. It is better for a lady who can’t help you to make heaven to walk out of your life so that God may prepare a God fearing one for you to marry. Although this may cause some shock I think it much better if God allows you to go through such training. For this reason the book of Ecclesiastes 7:8 says: “The end of a matter is better than its beginning, and patience is better than pride.” (NIV) Why not endure sometime of isolation and pain whilst you look up to Yahweh for His guidance. For surely He is a good who promises us through His word that: “…., Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame. Romans 10:11 (NIV) Keep holding on to your faith in Christ Jesus, believe His word and the leadings of the Holy Spirit and surely every door of blessing which seems shut down in your life stands to be opened in God’s appointed time. Have in mind that making heaven should be the ultimate goal in your life. Anything else which may prove a threat to this achievement should therefore be allowed to leave your life. This is the reason why the Holy Scriptures says: “What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?” Matthew 16:26 (NIV) Can you choose to follow Christ if told to select between holding on to the love of your life (unwedded partner) and your faith in the Lord Jesus.? In conclusion, I hope and believe that you would rather select Jesus above all other things (this includes leaving the wrong unwedded gentleman or lady to wait on God) in order to make a good decision of holding on to your maker. This is because there is no marriage in heaven, and so why rush into the wrong one and risk yourself of entering Hell as a result of evil influence from your unwedded lady or gentleman. Would you like to connect yourself to the one who instituted marriage? If so, then kindly accept Jesus as your Lord and personal saviour by saying this word of prayer. PRAYER OF SALVATION Oh Jesus, thank you for the word. I accept sinning against you and ask that you forgive me through the cleansing of my soul with your precious blood. I accept you into my life as my Lord and personal saviour. Write my name in book of life, in Jesus mighty name. Amen. God bless you. LET ALL THE HONOUR BE GIVEN TO EL-ELYON (THE MOST HIGH GOD).
