THURSDAY 4TH DECEMBER, 2014 HALLOWED BE THY NAME MATTHEW 6:9 The greatest concern in our prayers and in our lives should be the hallowing of the name of God. To hallow the name of the Lord is to consecrate, sanctify, deify, revere, respect and conduct ourselves and do things in such ways that would make people around us bless the Holy name of the Lord. Whereas, to refuse to hallow His name will defile, vandalise, insult, scandalise and violate the name of the Lord (Satanists are fond of doing just that). Such terrible acts will place His name and character under damage, outrage, sacrilege, blasphemy and lay it to waste. This is not your portion in the name of Jesus. It is very important that God should be glorified and exalted in our prayers and our day to day activities. In our prayers and daily walk, we must intensely be concerned with the reputation of God, His Church, His gospel and His kingdom. Have you brought shame to the name of the Lord? Think and repent in dust and ashes! It is so terribly shameful that believers today are disregarding the name of God, and so do not have the sense to hallow His name. To do something that brings scandal to the Lord’s name and character is a hideous sin that puts Him to open shame. Everyone should praise God greatly and awesomely because His name points to his divine nature. Have you been using the name of the Lord carelessly as a believer? Then you must be very careful not to pull down the anger of God on you. The name of God is today used so often in vulgar conversation that most have lost sight of its Holiness. How easy is it for you to treat God so lightly in everyday life? If you claim Him as your father, live worthy of the family name. Respect God’s name in your life, prayer and activities, give praise to God by both your words and your actions. The name of God should be and must be treated with utmost reverence and respect. God’s name is enthroned far above humans in strength, justice, purity and greatness. You must beware of adapting the world’s casual use of this name. Memory Points: Proverb 18:10 Help me Lord to know the value of your name
