THURSDAY, AUGUST 7, 2014 – Acts 9:1-43 https://biblegateway/passage/?search=Acts+9&version=ESV Acts 9 In the last chapter we witnessed how God used Saul to scatter the church throughout Judea and Samaria. While Saul intended to put a stop to the spread of Christianity, he only served to facilitate it. In this chapter Saul is called by Jesus to become “a chosen instrument” to carry His name before the Gentiles. Saul experienced a sort of resurrection. He was in total darkness for three days, like Jesus in the tomb. On the third day, Saul’s sight returned in the name of Jesus through the laying on of hands through Ananias. Scales fell from his eyes like the stone being rolled away from the grave. The text says, “he rose and was baptized” v.18. From this point forward, Paul would be a witness for Jesus instead of against Him and the Gospel would continue to spread from Jerusalem to Judea, Samaria and the end of the earth.
