THURSDAY, January 16 John 1:46. Nathanael said to Philip, - TopicsExpress

THURSDAY, January 16 John 1:46. Nathanael said to Philip, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.” There was a little fish named Small Fry who had a friend named Frog. At Frog’s insistence, Small Fry agreed to go on a sightseeing tour of the world beyond the pond, even though (like all the other fish in his school) he didn’t believe there was anything beyond the pond. Frog’s stories had made him curious about this beautiful place that he couldn’t imagine and that the other fish said didn’t exist. When Bird of the Mountain gave him a tour, Small Fry saw it for himself, just as Frog had said. He couldn’t wait to get back and tell the other fish what he’d seen, but they laughed at him and forbade him to ever listen to Frog again. But Small Fry had beheld the world beyond the pond and now invited others to come and see. Jesus invited Philip to follow him and become his disciple. Philip invited Nathanael, who was skeptical because of where Jesus came from—Nazareth…really? Nathanael went and discovered for himself, “You are the Son of God.” That’s how others get to join Jesus. You tell somebody. You invite them. That’s how the kingdom grows, with a simple invitation to come and see the world beyond. (From Forward Day by Day)
