TIME Magazines People of the Year: The Ebola Healthcare Workers! We are thrilled with this years selection. So many people have traveled to West Africa in an unselfish commitment to rid our planet of the Ebola Virus Disease. This award should also include all of the indigenous workers that treated patients and witnessed their family members and friends perish. According to Times Editor in Chief, Nancy Gibbs, the TIME magazines cover will feature 5 Ebola fighters including: 1. Dr. Kent Brantly, a volunteer with Samaritan Purse, who became the first American to contract Ebola. He was flown from Liberia to the USA, treated and discharged. 2. Foday Gallah, a heroic ambulance driver, who contracted Ebola while trying to calm an infected child. 3. Dr. Jerry Brown who converted his hospitals chapel into one of the Liberias first Ebola treatment centers. 4. Salome Karwah, who lost her mother and father to EVD. She also contracted the Ebola virus but was able to fight off the infection. She spends her time counseling patients in Liberia. 5. Ella Watson-Stryker, a volunteer with MSF We would also like to pay tribute to the first person to die from Ebola on American Soil, Mr. Thomas Duncan, and the last person, Dr. Martin Salia to succumb to the EVD in the USA. Our thoughts are with everyone that has lost someone from this devastating virus.
