TIME-SENSITIVE: Beau the Special-Needs Vizsla Puppy Needs our Help! Dear Vfriends, As you know from earlier posts this little guy, now about 10 weeks old, was born with an undetected cleft palate (mouth photo ~8 weeks). His owners first intended to give him away, but with the offer of support from NoCA Vrescue/Vizsla Rescue Haven, decided to keep him. Following Veterinary Consult at UC Davis, however, they have now sadly decided that the special care that little Beau will require is simply beyond their abilities--both personal and financial. It is anticipated that reconstructive surgery will take place at around six months of age, to allow for further growth and optimal nutritional/physical status. Bottle-fed from birth to seven weeks, at this point Beau is reported to be feeding normally (kibble and water?). He is playful, loving, mischievous, and adores kids. His owners are returning him to his breeder TONIGHT. She can only keep him a few days, as they are in the process of moving. WHAT IS NEEDED: IMMEDIATE long-term Foster/Adoptive Parent (most preferably a Vet Tech, Licensed Nurse, or similar): Must have ability to provide both Vexpert and loving normal puppy care & possibly supplemental nutrition, as well as to take care of Beau before and after his surgery. This will likely entail tube feedings, protection of tube from chewing, possibly dressing changes, oral flushing/care, etc. Parent will need to have ability to transport Beau to and from U.C. Davis (near Sacramento, CA), OR to work with a volunteer Transport Team assembled by NoCAVR or VRH. Financial Support: Tax-deductible donations in any amount, towards Beaus surgery(ies) and care, would be most gratefully received. The exact cost of imaging studies and surgery is at this point unknown but may be up to $3000.00 or more. Please go to vizslarescuehaven.org/contribute.shtml Please specify on Comments that your donation is for Beau. Transporters: If Foster/Adoptive Parent is unable to provide transportation of Beau to and from his appointments, we may need to assemble teams of transporters who can do so. Hopefully these will be within CA, but at this point we do not know. If you can help with number 1 or 3, please EMAIL Kay Ingle ASAP at kay123@vizsladogs (cc me at elders22@gmail) Cmon Team V, we can do this! THANK YOU!!!
