TIME TO GET IT RIGHT AGAIN Leaving Eyemote Comprehensive High - TopicsExpress

TIME TO GET IT RIGHT AGAIN Leaving Eyemote Comprehensive High School in the late 70’s for Ibadan Ile Oluyole was a golden opportunity for me to know more about those things going-on on the other side. Yes! Mr. Bola Ige, the then Civilian Governor of the Oyo State was a very popular man, so creative and dynamic in his approach to issues. But popular as the Cicero of Esa Oke is the Ibadan people saw the need to support their own son, Dr Olunloyo for the governorship position in a renew election of 1983 in the state. It all started with the elites and later spread to the common man in the streets. They coined a popular slogan “Omo wa ni e je o see” and through this they got succeeded in winning the election for NPN and with Dr. Olunloyo being sworn-in as governor in October, 1983. Close to us are the Ijesha people whom we oftentimes regarded as our part going by the history and records. They, like Ibadan people, repented from all hallucinations and vain dreams, saw the need to take the bull by the horns if meaningful achievements are to be brought to Ijesha land. Their firm determination of course earned them the position of Deputy in 2003-2010 as well as Governor of the State of Osun from 2010 till date. Coming to Iyin Ekiti, my home country, truly l see nothing wrong if the entire Iyin community could throw their weights behind Hon. Opeyemi Bamidele for this coming June governorship election in Ekiti State. To me it is a right step in the right direction. It should have started with a body like IPFU being an institution in the center of developmental programme for the community. From there other notable people could join to sheer Opeyemi to victory just like Ibadan and Ijesha did in their respective capacities. Just yesterday night, around 9:34pm l got a telephone call from one of our community chiefs who is also a member of Iyin IPFU, demanding for reasons on why l decided to drop Dr. Fayemi whom l have supporting for a very long time now for Hon. Bamidele Opeyemi who according to the chief has nothing to offer Iyin people other than jeopardizing their future interest. In my reply l told the chief that l has every course to support Hon. Bamidele Opeyemi regardless of my past or present positions in any capacity whatsoever. By history my support for Ekiti State is dated back to 2004 during Ayodele Fayose’s regime. Being a field reporter and columnist in “THE CLASS” Newspaper then l risked life and l staked almost all just for the liberation of the entire Ekiti people from Mr. Fayose’s government of deceit and lies. And with God on our side we got succeeded in 2006 when he, Fayose finally impeached by the two third majority of Ekiti State House of Assembly. The race started with the elites then and later spread to the common man in the streets. Setting aside all manners of personal aggrandizements is one of the effective ways to achieve a community goal in any moving society. Iyin people, particularly member of the IPFU should be able to realize these noble facts. Let’s all begin to think ahead of this oligarchrian and parochianic interests which indeed is taking us to nowhere as a community other than to boost and enrich the pocket of few greed among us. Iam very sure that Chief himself knew what we, as Iyin Community stand to gain if Hon. Bamidele Opeyemi is supported to win the next governorship election in Ekiti State. Like l wrote last week Iyin stands the best town among other noble towns and villages in Ekiti State to win this governorship election in the State. I will therefore appeal to all “Omo Eso Orita Egiri-OKe” once again, including the Chief to please support Hon. Bamidele Opeyemi regardless of your present positions or Party affiliations. GOD BLESSES IYIN EKITI! GOD BLESSES EKITI STATE!! GOD BLESSES NIGERIA!!! MOB 4 Governor!
