TIPS TO GET RID OF ANT! Water Boil a teapot of water for use on outdoor ant mounds. Pour the hot water down each mound. The water will drown the ants just like a trip through the washing machine would. Grits Sprinkle a tablespoon of instant grits on the ant mound. The ants with eat the instant grits, which will then expand inside the ants body, eventually killing the ant. You can also use instant cream of wheat in the same way. Duct Tape For ants that are ruining trees, wrap a strip of duct tape, with the adhesive side facing out, around the trunk of the tree. The ants wont be able to make it past the super-sticky surface of the duct tape, which will protect the rest of the tree. Eventually the ants will become deterred from trying to attack your trees and will start to look for somewhere else to go. Yeast, Molases and Sugar Mix equal parts sugar and active yeast with two parts molasses. Place one teaspoon of this mixture on the non-sticky side of Post-it notes. Place the Post-its in locations where the ants are known to travel, using the sticky part to secure them in place. Chalk Chalk is made of crushed-up shells, which means it contains calcium carbonate. Draw lines outside your house where you suspect the ants might be entering. The ants will be repelled by the calcium carbonate, keeping them away from your home. Crush up the pieces of chalk into a dust to use in places where there isnt a surface that you can write on. Salt and Flour Sprinkle salt or flour in areas where you suspect the ants are entering your home to create a barrier they will not cross. Window sills and exterior door thresholds are a good place to start. You can also sprinkle one of these substances in the back of your cupboards to keep ants away from food. Borax Make a mixture of half borax and half sugar. Leave small amounts of this mixture where the ants frequent, both indoors and outdoors. The ants will carry the mixture back to the nest, where the rest of the ants will consume it. Eventually the whole nest will be killed off. Dont use this method in areas where pets or children play.
