In order to get a custody advantage, my former wife had her cousin in the Secret Service, Special Agent Jeff Boothe, contact the Army under the color of the law and claimed I intended to harm her. I was arrested and the Army quickly moved to illegally separate me. I held my ground until the charges were not only dropped, but also completely expunged from my record. The details of the Des Moines Register, TSA article are also not at all correct. My friend helped me drive a moving truck to Iowa and flew back to North Carolina. While she was home my father gave her a tiny handgun she could keep in her wallet. She returned without it and my dad put it in her left bag. When I flew back two weeks later she asked me to grab her bag. This incident was also completely expunged from my record. I was added to the promotion list for Major in March of 2013. The same month I was accepted to Harvard and decided to leave the Army. I received an Honorable discharge. I filed a lawsuit against my former wife for Malicious Prosecution and Abuse of Process in North Carolina. Instead of shriveling to the terrible character building experiences I still decided to stand up to them and make things better. I began a military training camp in Jefferson so I could help the military recruit better leaders. Reputable Republicans have stood behind me because they can see through the smoke and mirrors of a flawed legal system. I actually brought these issues to the Iowa Republican months ago for advice when I was asked to enter this race. Ive faced bullets. Ive faced nasty and false press by the Des Moines Register. I emerged from all of this with a clean record and a Harvard Degree. I have the character and courage to tackle the emerging crisis of the unfunded pension gap.
