TL;DR I need deckbuilding help :(. Please help :( So, after the modern ban list changes Im pretty stuck with what to play this weekend in Leeds. I think the main players will be abzan midrange, (tarmo)twin & affinity/zoo, as well as some burn, scapeshift and tron, plus a bunch of random things. Due to the diversity, Im fairly fixed on playing siege rhino, but without goyfs i cant play abzan midrange, so i have to come up with something similar which potentially matches up well in the mirror. I tested abzan+r loam but felt the loam package was too clunky/useless in such a deck, so I was wondering about a WBGR midrange/reanimator deck. The idea being, turn off the abrupt decays (almost), trade 1 for 1 and have threats that are inbuilt 2 for 1s and use reanimation spells to keep that advantage going in grindy games. So the list I was thinking would be something like: 24 lands 4 rhino 3-4 resto angel 1-3 thragtusk 2 olivia voldaren 1 batterskull 2-5 more creatures (15-6 total probably) 1-2 Whip of Erebos 2-3 Unburial Rites 4 Thoughtseize 4 Liliana of the Veil 4 Abrupt Decay 3 Path to Exile The main questions I had were - what mix of creatures is best right now and do I want card advantage, mana acceleration or both? The other creatures I had in mind were (in no order): Huntmaster of the Fells, Grave Titan, Angel of Serenity (extreme). For mana acceleration, I wasnt clear if I would want birds of paradise in such a list (which restricts space for reanimation spells perhaps). Finally, from a card advantage perspective, liliana of the veil turns on their decays, but trades 1 for 1 (or 2 for 1 if im using it primarily as edict in the mirror) - would i be better off cutting e.g. 1 liliana and 1 path for 2 card draw spells, and if so are those sign in bloods, abzan charms, or a recurring one like phyrexian arena? Any advice would be really useful, Im fairly confident if i play something similar to abzan midrange (or junk or w/e) then the fair matchups are all reasonable, so Id be tuning the sideboard for affinity/tron/scapeshift and Id be ok with that.
