TL;DR— a tummy tuck is not a walk in the plastic surgery - TopicsExpress

TL;DR— a tummy tuck is not a walk in the plastic surgery park. Dont read if youre squeamish. I had some plastic surgery last week. Ive had some other major operations in the past — a Caesarean birth and a thru-the-front hysterectomy to name just 2— that left me more than a bit worse for wear, so I had some plastic surgery to fix the pleats, sags, and distressed & scarred muscle. This is blithely called a tummy tuck. It sounds kute but its miles harsher than anything that made my tummy need tucking in the first place. The incision goes port to starboard in a semi-circular shape down to my pubic bone. The dermis of my abdomen was separated from the muscle and resituated with a fair amount removed. My navel has new surroundings. My rectus abdominis was cinched together down the center, because huge pregnancies tend to stretch the gristle between the columns of 6-pack. These sutures should dissolve over time. In the mean time, I am stapled together across 24 inches of surgical wizardry with a drain at either end. Im using a walker because I cant stand straight yet. I have to sit to take a shower. I need a lot of sleep. I am not complaining! I just would like the Oh, thats not such a big deal! folks to know that, yeah, it is a big deal. Yeah, I asked for it, and yeah, Im ready to go the distance with it. Im glad to be very healthy going into this; it sure beats being ill as hell and needing an operation. But I have done that, and this is harder. Just sayin.
