TM1628, UXC611 from Park Royal depot, driver George Wright and mate Gartell, pull out of Wests Piling & Construction plant yard, on the Great West Road, A4, opposite London Heathrow Airport, under 7pm Metropoliton Police escort, en route for a contract site somewhere in London. The year is 1959, and the 43RB has been loaded across the trailer to save a lot of hard work, and with the hope that the police will not point out that the tracks are longer than the cab is wide, ! Park Royal still hauled some plant for the civil engineering and plant hire sector at this time, but making a profit at the at the going prices, whilst running at 12 mph, was certainly not viable.
