TM20140319 TODAYS MESSAGE Oluwamuyiwa Okuseinde : But not so with My servant Moses; he is entrusted and faithful in all My house. With him I speak mouth to mouth [directly], clearly and not in dark speeches; and he beholds the form of the Lord... (Numbers 12:7-8, Amplified). Every time I read about the relationship between Moses and God, I get challenged again and again, desiring with all my heart such a level of intimacy with my Maker, and eagerly looking forward to the time I shall arrive at such an estate. Such men like Moses are rare in our churches and on our pulpits today, and such are the ones needed in our generation if the church would fulfil her mandate and if the kingdom of God would be built. The problem with this generation is that we have more men on the pulpit who only have a professional or occupational relationship with God. They are simply priests or pastors by vocation - no more, no less. Among them are also the mercenaries, who although are very skillful or anointed as the case may be, are only on the job for what they would eat. To them, Gods people are no more than merchandise or sheep to be milked and fleeced. But basically, these people do not know God. The fact that they do miracles, use the name of Jesus, speak the Bible, and have a large crowd following them make no difference. We have their examples in Hophni and Phinehas, referred to in our passage for further reading, as well as Theudas and Judas of Galilee (Acts 5:36-37). And then on the other side of the pulpit, we have a people who have only a bread and butter relationship with God. They are mere collectors of divine grace and blessings. They are not interested in knowing and serving God for who He is. And when they do, it is just so that the divine blessings may continue to flow. They are the type that God spoke about as people who draw near Him with their mouths and honor Him with their lips, but their hearts hold off and are far away from Him. Then He declared that their worship is in vain or useless (Matthew 15:8-9). Wanted in this generation are men and women of God who can be entrusted and be faithful in Gods house. Wanted is a church filled with people who love the Lord and are busy building intimate relationship with Him. Davids personal desire and passion expressed in Psalms 17:15 to continually behold Gods face in righteousness, and never to be satisfied until he manifested the likeness of God is worth adopting. Pauls firm decision to know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death (Philippians 3:10) is worth emulating. Only by nurturing such relationship with God would believers be well suited to connecting the rest of humanity to the Lord our God. ~ FURTHER BIBLE READING - 1 SAMUEL 2:12-36; PHILIPPIANS 3:1-21. ~ Exercises. 1.
