TM20140714 TODAYS MESSAGE Oluwamuyiwa Okuseinde : “And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear. And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him (Luke 22:50-51). The above incidence took place while Jesus was being arrested for a crime He did not commit. That whole period was for Him one of intense agony when all that should occupy His mind was how to get out of the predicament in which He had found Himself. Don’t forget that it was at this period that Jesus prayed His most agonising prayer where it was reported that sweats like great drops of blood poured from His body (Luke 22:44). I will encourage you to make time out to read the passage recommended for further reading. There you will see on several occasions how that Jesus did not allow what He was passing through to overwhelm Him to the point that His bowel of compassion would shut down. In the midst of His agony, Jesus found time to speak comforting words to His followers about the provision He was making for them in the future kingdom. He found time to pray for Peter even though heaven refused His own earnest plea of letting the cup of crucifixion pass away from Him. And then as recorded in our Bible text above, we see Jesus in the midst of a most heartless and painful betrayal ministering to someone else who needed relief from pain, restoring the chopped off ear of the man that came to arrest Him unjustly. Friends, I do not know what you could be going through right now but let it not stop you from doing good, from being a blessing and from lending a helping hand to those who are in need. First, it is a way of honouring God and letting Him know that nothing will stop you from doing the good that He created you to do. Remember that the Bible says we are God’s workmanship, His masterpiece created in Christ Jesus to perform good works that God prepared long ago to be our way of life (Ephesians 2:10, The International Standard Version). Secondly and equally important, it is a way of calling Satans bluff and telling him that he has failed in your life. If you keep up the attitude, the failure of the devil will soon become manifest. When the devil threw all that hard times on you, it was to get you out of sync with the wonderful personality the Lord created you to be. However, when you stay focused on being a blessing in spite of the challenges, you prove that you are not under the affliction but passing through it. And of course, passing through, you will definitely pass through to the victory side by the power of the Most High God. ~ FURTHER BIBLE READING - LUKE 22:28-54. ~ Exercises. 1.
