TN Valley Forecast Wednesday Morning, August 20, 2014 Summer Is Here to Stay for a While Wednesday Morning Update: Lower to middle 70s to start your morning at the bus stop! Patchy fog for some with no rain! Take the umbrella just in case you get an isolated shower this afternoon. The heat kicks in today! Expect mid-afternoon high temperatures in the 93º to 96º range; the heat index rises to near 100ºF between 1 PM and 5 PM. Any thunderstorms that are able to develop Wednesday could be strong; we will watch them closely. It gets even hotter than that for the rest of the week. A strong ridge overhead keeps the stormy weather away for most of us, but this feature may ultimately help drive a tropical cyclone into the Gulf of Mexico next week. Will it or won’t it have an impact on Labor Day Weekend? Feeling Like the 100s: This heat wave will be the worst of the season; expect a daily dose of sunshine, heat and high humidity making it feel even hotter than the thermometer indicates. There will be a few scattered storms around on Wednesday afternoon (mainly east of I-65) that could help cool it down in a few spots; those who stay dry get no relief at all. Temperatures rise into the middle and upper 90s on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday and even into the middle of next week. Each day the heat index (what your body actually perceives) will rise to the 100-105ºF
