TN has its nose out of joint over Gov. Otters campaign deciding - TopicsExpress

TN has its nose out of joint over Gov. Otters campaign deciding not to do a debate locally with the TN as host, but it looks pretty much like a scheduling issue.....The gov set four tv debates for the campaign....one in CDA, one in IF and two in Boi, all televised....sure, a debate here would have been nice, but the gov has been here a lot this summer, including Idaho Cattle Assn and TF Co Fair just last week. Otter will be again this coming week, Tuesday, Sept. 9, 4-6 pm, Dixon home, 274 Sunnyhill, off Woodridge). If youve got an issue to talk about with Otter, this event next week would be a good time...and theres even some ice cream! .....So its not like hes been ignoring the area......As for debate on the TNs turf and rules, the paper might think back on how fairly it has or has not treated the governor......As their editorial writer said in a meeting this year, they have a different narrative on Idaho and its governance.......Given the past months constant carping, would you blame the governor much for picking some different venues.... Heres an example. The paper frequently critiques the state for being cheap in education funding, but never mentions the real numbers, which are these: since the recession, public schools budget has gone from $1.231b (2010) to $1.363b, (2015) an increase of almost 11 percent........one can fault the amount, but its all the state has unless one wants to raise taxes or quit putting money into savings accounts......Ah, theres the rub.......Heres the Otter debate schedule..... otter4idaho/press_room.php/GOVERNOR%20OTTER%20FINALIZES%20DEBATE%20SCHEDULE
