TNA FILES FRESH COMPLAINTS TO IEBC OVER KETHI KILONZO The National Alliance Party (TNA) has written a fresh complaint to the IEBC against the eligibility of Wiper Democratic Party candidate Kethi Kilonzo to vie in the Makueni Senate by-election. In the letter TNA has challenged voter registration details produced by the commission that show Kethi was registered in Karen. TNA has said there was no registration centre called ‘Karen’ stating that CAW NO.1381 was for Karen Ward as a whole and registration information was not provided at a ward level but rather at the specific registration centre within that ward. The party has further stated that Karen had twelve (registration centres) none of which was called Karen. TNA has also raised objects over the format of the registration details stating the details which are in the Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) format was apparently registered in 2011 while BVR registration commenced in 2012 “ Thirdly, how did Kethi end up with an acknowledgment slip from the same booklet with H.E former President Kibaki whereas this booklet was exclusively reserved for the President who is a voter at Monaine Primary School in Othaya Constituency, Nyeri County,” read the letter to the commission in part. TNA further said in the letter that searches they conducted in the voter registers produced by the IEBC both to them as well to the public did not yield any result for any person bearing Ms. Kilonzo’s name. TNA has further requested that the IEBC avail to the public scanned copies of Kethi’s candidature documents and a breakdown of the her registration information. The party warned that if Kethi’s registration information turns out to be false then she would have committed a felony stating that the Jubilee government will pursue the matter in both the civil and criminal courts. “This is a grave matter which goes to the core of the credibility of Kenya’s Electoral Processes, ” the letter concluded.
