TNT (Tuesday Night Training) was so edifying and enriching last night; I thought I’d share it with you. Here’s a teaspoon from Tuesday’s teaching. The titled of the lesson was “I’m about to Snap.” We discussed how to control your anger. It’s not a sin to be angry. God’s anger (Ps 30:5) Jesus’ anger (Mark 3:5) The difference in the anger they expressed is they became angry WITH sin, but didn’t become angry AND sin. Ephesians 4:26: Be ye angry, and sin not etc. Not all anger is sinful, but it becomes sinful when it induces us to lose control and respond with the intent to be hurtful and not helpful. ANGER IS ONE LETTER AWAY FROM DANGER and that’s why Paul says, if you are angry, don’t sin by nursing your grudge or use your anger as fuel for revenge; get over it quickly. So then, what will help us control our anger and not let anger control us 1) Yield to the Holy Spirit: Galatians 5:16 The Holy Spirit will help you control anger and not become a slave to anger. QUOTE: Before you master your anger, the Holy Spirit must master you. 2) Watch who you hang around: Proverbs 22:24-25 Dont hang out with angry people; dont keep company with hotheads. Bad temper is contagious; dont get infected. QUOTE: to keep calm, watch the company you keep 3) Don’t “fuss or cuss” when expressing your anger: Proverbs 15:1 A gentle response defuses anger, but a sharp tongue kindles a temper-fire. QUOTE: If you speak uncontrollably when youre angry, youll make the best speech youll ever regret. Uncontrolled anger is hazardous to your health, but with the help of the Holy Spirit, anger can be controlled. Peace
