Enjoy good food, great company and learn how you can help get the Golden Gate Park Recreational Fields Renovation Act on the November ballot. We want natural grass and no lights next to Ocean Beach at the Beach Chalet Soccer Fields. The existing fields are grass, which Rec and Park wants to pave over with plastic grass and toxic rubber tire waste and put up 150,000 watts of high-intensity sports lights - right next to Ocean Beach! Were determined to stop this terrible project. Were collecting signatures for a ballot initiative petition that will require these fields to be renovated with real grass and will not allow stadium lighting. WE NEED YOUR HELP TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN. Please come to our party on June 18, help us raise money and sign our petition. Signatures signatures signatures, signatures, signatures . . . . . that’s what it’s all about! The most important thing now is your willingness to get names on petitions so that we can qualify for the ballot. We need at least 15,000 signatures. Petitions will be available at the party for you to collect signatures from family and friends who are registered San Francisco voters. We also need your donations! A campaign of this scope costs money. Generous donors have agreed to match donations received at this event. Checks payable to Coalition to Protect Golden Gate Park and credit cards will be gratefully received. Thats three weeks from now! Collecting signatures can be as easy as talking to family, neighbors, friends, classmates and co-workers. You can also go to a farmer’s market, special event, or stand outside your favorite restaurant or store. Email us at [email protected] or call Shawna McGrew at 415-681-3544. We’ll make sure you get petitions, instructions and information about good places to collect signatures. We also may be able to pair you up with another volunteer or you can bring a friend. It’s more fun to work with someone else. The more the merrier. The clock is ticking. All you need is a two-hour time slot and a laptop computer. This is very important work, since only valid signatures will be accepted by the Department of Elections.
