TO BE DESTROYED - 08/24/14 Manhattan -P (A1011162) SHAGGY WAS ADOPTED FROM A SHELTER 6 MON AGO AND NOW HIS OWNERS MOVED AND DUMPED HIM AGAIN :(((( ღ ☼¸.•´¸.•*´¨) Sometime in the last 6 months, 2 year old Shaggy was adopted from a shelter (not clear which one). And no doubt, this little guy figured he really had lucked out. But now his adopters are apparently moving out of the country, and here he is sitting in a cage at Manhattan ACC wondering why. Shaggy’s owner notes are a bit confusing—they describe him as pretty strong willed but its not clear what if, anything, they did to train him during these last months. And when it came time for his behavioral eval, poor Shaggy just didn’t know what to do. He absolutely aced that eval but when that strange dog came into the room, he wasn’t real thrilled. But staff who walk him reported to the assessor that when he’s outside walking, he could care less about the other dogs. Now anybody who knows Corgis and Chows is understanding all of this—both breeds are pretty confident and don’t mind letting anybody know that. But both breeds are also absolutely loyal and loving so Shaggy needs someone who understands how to remind him that he doesn’t need to do his “job” and protect everybody. ACC doesn’t think there’s anybody out there who thinks Shaggy is worth the time, and they’ve put him on tomorrow’s euthanasia list. They even realized that his behavioral eval didn’t tell Shaggy’s whole story and made him Experience rather than New Hope only. If you are that person who knows what a great dog Shaggy really is, that at 2 he’s more than anxious to learn the right way of doing things, and that he will reward you for years to come by being at your side through thick and thin. If you’re that person, step up to foster or adopt Shaggy.
