TO BE DESTROYED - 12/12/14- Manhattan Center, NY ☆ LOST & WARY.✿¸.•°*˜ DON ☆¸.✿¸.•°*( A1022399) ***Contact a New Hope rescue to save Don tonight!*** A volunteer writes: Don is a cute cream five year old Chihuahua with lovely dark velvety eyes. He is healthy looking and perfectly groomed. He is clearly scared in his kennel, huddled against the back wall. He did not touch his food either. His den is clean and orderly. Don was a family dog, relinquished as people in the house were allergic to his dander. His former masters admit that beside his loved ones, Don did not get to meet many other people, kids, other dogs and even less cats. He is what we call, an under socialized dog. Imagine how Don must feel in our shelter world…Lost and very wary…He accepts my leash, though and walks well by my side, doing a little puddle as we enter the yard. Free in a pen, he explores a little but favors going into a corner, lifting his paw up as I approach him…I love his brick color nose and his giant ears. I bet Don would love for them to be wings and fly away to a place called …home. He is said by his owners to be a loving dog to his family. He does like to guard his food and stuff. Don is at the Manhattan Care Center, hoping and dreaming to be again someones best friend and companion. Another volunteer writes: As I entered his quarters, Don zoomed to his door from the back of his kennel. He was dancing on his hinds and crying. That was not the same Don I met a few days ago. I leashed him and off we went to the yard. Free in a pen, he immediately jumped on the bench next to me and then onto my lap...He looked so comfortable. He recognized me. He knew I was a friend. I was amazed at the transformation. Don is a big mush and loves to be caressed. He was poorly socialized but he surely is learning fast to be social given the right opportunity. Last night, I walked through the care center, Don safely secured against my chest. He was one happy little guy. I hope that Don can be given a chance . I know he could make a new owner very happy to have him as a forever best friend.
