August 13, 2013 Today the theme at the Illinois State Fair is Agriculture Day. CUTEST LITTLE FARMER CONTEST Our feed contains b-roll of boys and girls from age two to 10 competing today in the “Cutest Little Farmer Contest” at the Illinois State Fair. No entry fee is required to enter the contest, but everyone must pay the required admission price at the Gate. The children were judged on neatness, creativity, overall effect and they could only use one prop in their costume. FARMER’S LITTLE HELPER The feed contains a short segment of b-roll of the interactive, agriculture exhibit out a Gate 2 at the corner of Peoria Road and Sangamon Avenue. This exhibit is a farm experience for children ages four – 12. Children get the opportunity to gather eggs, milk a pretend cow, visit a pig barn, try on some harness racing attire, plant seed, play with corn, reenact being a farmer by harvesting vegetables, going to the farmers market and getting a dollar to go to the grocery store to buy food. The b-roll includes tractors from the exhibit. This is free entertainment…and the tram makes stops right by the exhibit! Hours are 10am – 7pm, daily during the Illinois State Fair. VARIOUS AGRICULTURE B-ROLL In recognition of Agriculture Day our feed provides b-roll of children milking cows at the “Milk a Cow” exhibit located in the 25/Q Series Barn at the fair. The exhibit is open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily during the Illinois State Fair. The feed also contains b-roll from a hog show where people were showing their hogs and b-roll of children playing at the Illinois Department of Agriculture tent play area – riding on little tractors and other child-sized farm implements. AUCTIONEER BID CALLING CONTEST The feed contains b-roll from the auctioneer bid calling contest held today at the Illinois State Fair, including winners from the contest. FAIR FOOD B-ROLL AND INTERVIEWS Our feed contains b-roll and interviews of new food vendors out at the fairgrounds this year. Shark on a Stick at the English booth in Ethnic Village with interview from Jeff Humiston from Highland Beach, Florida, All Things Cookie Dough located on Grandstand Avenue with interview with owner/operator Karla Edwards from South Dakota, and Connie Ertl from Newton, IA (owner/operator) from the Gelato booth shows us they are also deep frying Smores, pickles and Twinkies. Fairgoers may also try some Bacon-Aide at the Fair!
