TO THIS TINY DOT, OUR PLANET Sagan says: Look again at that dot. That’s here, our planet, our mother, the earth our sweet cosy home. Home to all its denizens, of everyone you love, you know, or you ever heard of, in fact, every human being who ever was. Here on it, the striving homosapian over the centuries created this cathedral of civilization devised countless labour-saving devices. Here they lived out not their lives in vain but added to the comfort of mankind and accumulated memories of a commonly shared past. The aggregate of all the joys and sufferings. On it were born and flourished thousands of religions, ideologies and systems, cultures and races, over millennia. A loved fond home to every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer Of thriving civilizations and all good things of life. A home to kings and peasants, of every one living and in love, Every mother and father, every hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals. Of every “superstar,” every “supreme leader,” every saint and sinner in history of our species. Whosoever has lived here- on this mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam is my ancestor, my own, my kith and kin. (Yayati)
