TO the Pirate World, an important structuring decision was made about SAS. Out of professionalism, respect and courtesy, this message was posted approx 20 hours ago to the CREW ONLY, to give them a chance to process. NOW it is only proper that the rest of the pirate world hear/see the EXACT MESSAGE STRAIGHT AS IT WAS HONESTLY POSTED, and NOTHING MORE and NOTHING LESS... so here goes.. Effective immediately, and with little remorse or hard feelings, the St Augustine Swashbucklers after 13 years of community service will dissolve and fade into the history books with hopeful dignity. Many will say poor or ugly words about or against this, and you’re entitled to your opinion, BUT to be brutally honest, you will be very mistaken. Although the CREW is important, each individual member is just as important and held in high esteem, each for their own separate values to the workings of this crew and my friendship. As in the Days of REAL HISTORIC Pirate crews(read your history), when a crew had reached a certain points in its life, no matter the reason, they would dissolve the crew, which would give each member the opportunity to walk away with no ill will or animosity, and like historic pirates of old, this is our time. Think what you will but this means that upon this action, not one crew member will have to be put in a position to make a choice or choose a side over all of the He said/She said rumors and innuendos that have plagued this crew for far too many months. Take this to heart, no matter who you are or what you may think; there ARE NO WINNERS in all of this pettiness. This Decision also gives each member the chance to continue pirating in their own way. Many events are still on the horizon, and many members will be attending these events, but for now as individual pirates. Hopefully this will allow all members to right the ills of the friendships they have and allow some good needed healing. This will also allow for NO ONE to chastise or condemn anyone for those they will hang out with. And for those that do comment in negative ways about any of this issue at all, well then this will show their true colors after all. MY truest hurt thru all of this was that I failed as a leader in the eyes of many of you, and have allowed many to be hurt. I will shoulder the blame as is the responsibility of any proper leader, in agreement with 6 other officers of this crew. As of the writing of these final words I have now lost my ill will towards most for now. This decision has allowed me to see things a bit more as they are and that for the sake of my health both mental and physical, and the wellbeing of many of the GOOD people in this crew, this is the RIGHT choice. Many on the outside will use these actions to their own purpose and gain, but again this will show their true colors. MIND YOU this choice is not a selfish choice, but a choice hopefully for the good of all the friendships that are being tested to their limits, and unrightly so. 7 officers of this crew have also come to this accord. This was not an easy decision and has come at much heart ache, but in a word, this is the lessor of many evils that has at least a better hope to put down this pettiness between friends and family. I wish all those that move along on their course, the best of adventures in the pirate world. I for one will be focusing on the many pirate commitments and responsibilities I have made on my own both for personal pirate work and my livelihood, and welcome any and all who would join me to stand up and feel free to say so. I hope everyone else will have good fortune. For those that condemn or speak ill of these actions in any way, I feel sorry for you. For those of you that will respect this, speak well of it and honor the thought that this action was done to preserve the many friendships that came about for all the good works of this crew, I thank you and respect you. Whether I stand alone or with others will only be seen as the future grows brighter and the clouds of ill fade. I will say this in closing, the good works of this crew, especially for the last 7 years will not die and cannot be taken away, and for the hundreds of children given smiles, the charities given our assistants and time, and the community as a whole to whom we have become a hard seeded part of, this will stand as a testament that there was good in all of it. I will continue to do things for my community alone or with fellow likeminded pirates. Signed William Mayhem no longer Capt. but still a pirate …….
