TODAY... I think it is important that I finally come out and write a status about the emotional turmoil that this country of ours has been going through over the last week or so. All of which has been highlighted by the media. This is something that affects us all whether we agree with the protesters motives or not. Ever since the flag burning in Brisbane at the G20 Ive read so many comments both for and against. I had to take a step back when I felt my SPIRIT was becoming affected by the information my mind was absorbing. Also having watched FIRST CONTACT last night... Im just hurt that it takes MAINSTREAM Australians to communicate to the rest of the country exactly what happens in our communities, in order for people to take notice. The very things ABORIGINAL Australians have been crying out for the whole time. However I need to put my personal feelings aside and give thanks that finally, the message is being conveyed although confronting and in ya face. There have been lots of cringe-worthy moments in the first episide alone. Its raw but it is real and making an impact. My intention has never been to wade into this discussion, however Ive found that a lot of young people have come to me for advice or maybe even an explanation as to why this is all happening at this point in our history. Therefore I am obligated to those who seek my guidance to ease their minds and to give them the benefit of my knowledge. It was therefore time for me to show LEADERSHIP throughout this situation. I know that in my community I am looked upon as an ELDER. However I do not feel that I have quite reached that status just yet. The only people who are able to give me that title are my ANCESTORS. I will know when the time comes that I have been bestowed that honour and privilege. Then I shall wear that title in a manner that is HUMBLE and without boastful pride - as that is the real trait of an ELDER. This is why my ART is so important to me and that I share it. Yes it is beautiful - but it is also a TOOL for EDUCATION. It is just as important that I do this as much as it is for me to come out and do WELCOME TO COUNTRY speeches when asked to. I am a HEALER and a LIGHT WORKER. It is my gift and I use it to bring comfort to those who seek it. Its also a huge responsibility and I sincerely hope I have helped those who have been guided to seek solace, comfort and understanding in my words. I apologise for being so heavy at this hour of the day but I felt I needed to share this with all who take time to read it. Our country is going through an AWAKENING and a period of ENLIGHTENMENT. All those at the forefront are taking up the courage to lead the way. There is a lot of PAIN and ANGER involved in this journey and this is where I come in. Thats why Im here. I am a GUIDE. It is all HEALING for myself as well and I know there is a brighter future ahead CULTURALLY and SPIRITUALLY for this beautiful land of ours and its People.
