TODAY IN HISTORY Jan 26 1340 – King Edward III of ENGLAND is declares himself King of FRANCE. (Interesting life of Edward III, at 14 his mother and her lover deposed his father King Edward II, making Edward III the king and the lover the de-facto ruler. At age 17 he led a successful coup against the lover to take his country back. His 50 year reign saw the Black Death, Vital developments in Parliament, his military become the most formidable in Europe.
