TODAY,May,5 is National Cartoonist Day!.National Cartoonists Day honors the,humor and insight which cartoonists bring to all of us thru their drawings and illustrations in newspapers,magazines,books television,movies and social media.Cartoons are a vital part of each day for me. When I begin my day,I pour a cup of coffee and sit down to read the Daily San Diego Union Tribune ,followed by the Los Angeles Times,I turn to the Cartoons Section first,starting my day with a smile from Peanuts,Bizarro,Pickles,Zits,Get Fuzzy,Mutts,Baby Blues,Pearls Before Swine,etc.Then,that is followed by the Editorial page to see the brilliant political cartoons of Steve Breen in the U.-T.or any one of the number of Political Cartoons drawn by guest Editorial cartoonists from all over the world in the Times.Many times I can look at one Editorial cartoon panel and know exactly all the hard news I need to know! And for pure entertainment,there is nothing like marveling in the artistry of an older, hand drawn animation rendering of a Disney Movie or an original Bugs Bunny Warner Bros. Looney Tune! So heres to the cartoonists,gifted artists one-and-all for sharing your unique talents with all of us. I will never lose my appreciation for all you have done to enrich our lives.
