TODAY WE WILL BE TALKING ABOUT THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN ESSENTIAL OIL AND FRAGRANCE OILS!!! My Good Friend suggested for me to write about the difference between essential oils and fragrance oils… I think it’s a good idea to talk about the differences and prices. Essentials oils and fragrance oils are very different. Synthetic Fragrance oils are primarily made from petrochmicals and attempt to duplicate the smell of a specific plant. Synthetics Fragrance oils tend to be more affordable than essential oils. The FDA’s “trade Secret “ law states: that the manufacturer of the fragrance oil does not have to disclose the ingredients used to make the fragrances. Sometimes the fragrance oils can be a bit more aggravating than an essential oil during the soapmaking process. Sometimes fragrance from one supplier may behave better than another. There are fragrance oils made with some natural essential oils and there are some fragrances that are made with 100% natural ingredients. Blending essential oils and fragrance: is to know your Top notes, middle notes and base notes. Top notes consist of small, light molecules that are strong in scent and evaporate quickly. Middle notes oils take the longest time to evaporate and Base notes take several days to evaporate. Essential oil takes hundreds of pounds of plant, trees, fruit, leaf, stem, bark, wood, or resin to make a single ounce of essential oil. Certain plants are now endangered from the over-harvesting. True essential oils tend to be a little pricey. Facts about essential oil are that there are different grades of essential oils. If you want true natural essential oils prepare to pay a little more for the products but remember they are better for you. Pure Essential oils are used in aromatherapy. EO may be used to enhance mood, to relieve symptoms such as skin problems, pain, Fatigue, or inflammation, or be used to kill germs. For example they can duplicate the Lavender & Chamomile the fragrance of essential oil, but they can’t duplicate the benefits from using natural EO. I made bath bombs from Lavender and chamomile and the question is why is it pricier than the other bath bombs. . Lets clarify I use Natural Chamomile and depending the amount I use drives the cost. I tend to use 1-2ML in a batch of bath bombs. Unless you don’t want benefits of the chamomile and just want the fragrance the price will be the same as marked on my website. There are several expensive EO around the world. What makes some essential oils pricier than others? Let’s say for example the roman chamomile EO is by far the most prized and sought after. Furthermore, limited resources cause the price to increase further. . They say these flowers only grow in certain parts of Europe and are only suitable for harvesting a short time period of the year. However, Many farms are now growing Chamomile and stated to be certified organically. It Take’s a lot of petals for a little amount of oil. The oil has amazing smell, calming effect and skin benefits. Here is an example of prices of Chamomile: Young living German Chamomile Essential oil 5ml is $48.03 Roman chamomile 5ml $46.71 Doterra 5ml Chamomile EO bottle price $44.00 Other suppliers 2oz $116.0 I hope this helps everyone understand the differences between the fragrance and EO. Also, to understand what drives the price between both.
