TODAY marks the 34th Anniversary of... Thats Entertainment! In 1980, Paul Howley and his ox cleared the stumps and brush from a small patch of land on Chandler Street in Worcester. He built a sturdy log-store and filled it with comics, records and role-playing games. Paul christened it Thatch Entertainment because of the original thatch roof; but he soon changed the name to the now-familiar Thats Entertainment-- because thats what everyone misunderstood the name to be anyway. Some of the first people through the door in those early days STILL come here to the corner of Lois and Park in 2014! Our grasp of all the historical details of our founding may not be precise, but we do know for sure that Paul called it The Friendly Comic Shop (occasionally we find an ancient parchment store bag printed with that motto), and thats a slogan we will strive to live up to as the years go by!
