TODAYS ADVENTURE~ Veterans day trail magic and hike with Courtney. Please excuse the photos, they are all out of order because I took two cameras (knowing that my new good one would mess up at some point...it did). Knowing that, enjoy the pics. First stop was trail magic this morning. we only saw two thru hikers and they had just resupplied at newfound gap and passed on our offer of donuts! (really?) This marks the end of my 2014 trail magic season as this road closes in just a few weeks and doesnt reopen until April first (for next years thru hikers). Then it was off to clingmans dome and Andrews Bald. This is the fourth time I have done this sweet little hike (4 miles RT) and until today all I got was FOG (going out, at the bald, and coming back). TODAY we hit the jackpot! OMG I didnt know just how breathtaking the view (along the trail and at the bald) was!!! It is now officially my fave SHORT hike in the park! WOW! Sandra and Deb you both would have had your mouths hanging open. The photos cannot do it justice! SO excited to go on a clear day, finally! (the hike back out is a bit of a lung buster...but well worth it. Also a knee buster coming down to bald with all those steps....if anyone with bad knees is thinking of doing it) Coming home we stopped at a spot we have been wanting to see. A bit of off trail hiking for less than a mile. Beauty all around us. I love my home in the mountains. Hope you love the photos and maybe next time you come to the smokies you will try the trails.....AMAZING!
