TODAYS DEVOTIONAL LESSON By: Towana Williams Master The Art Of Observing To observe means to watch and sometimes listen to someone or something very carefully; and then to notice something significant. Many of us use observation as a tool to gain a deeper understanding, to avoid dangerous situations, to avoid conflict or to see a persons true colors. There are others who rarely use this wonderful gift. They generally dont fully listen or watch long enough to observe something good or bad. They skip ahead and jump right in; later on they regret it and they wish that had observed first. Or they do not move at all and they miss out on golden opportunities. Proverbs 20:12 ESV The hearing ear and the seeing eye, the Lord has made them both. You can learn a lot from watching people: like their actions, daily habits, words and patterns. You can learn even more, if you just listen to them talk. Havent you ever just sat back and watched someone and as a result you figured them out immediately and/or their plans or plots? How much easier our lives would be if we observed things first and then made our decisions. Its a known fact that many marriages failed because observation was not used in the beginning but rather at the end. This same thing holds true for many people that are incarcerated for crimes and people who have been victims of a crime. If you watch long enough and listen carefully, people will reveal themselves rather positively or negatively. Observation is a wonderful God given resource and we should all master the art of using it, instead of assuming, ignoring or being blind to certain facts, using love instead of common sense and the list goes on. Not only is observation a resource but it is also a defense tactic; a portal to new found wisdom; an escape clause; the beginning seeds of new love; financial prosperity and good health.
