TODAYS E-MAIL Let It Be Christmas It was clear from the very first spin that Alan Jackson‘s 2002 Christmas song would be more than just another wannabe standard. First, the voice of Alan Jackson is strong and fatherly – it is rich like a violin, and warm like a soft kiss. A gentle acoustic guitar accompanies a story that sneaks in a lesson of morality. “Let It Be Christmas” is #1 on the list of the “Top 50 Country Christmas Songs” of all time; it is popular today and it will be popular forever. I really do think this song is timeless because it touches hearts with the warm lyrics that only Georgia native, Alan Jackson could pen and perform. The lyrics are just beautiful. Jackson is an excellent songwriter – he writes all the songs he records. I think his skill as a songwriter is best illustrated in the song he wrote in the wake of 9-11, “Where Were You”. “Let It Be Christmas” is right up there with “Where Were You”. This is a stunning video; the scenes capture the true meaning of Christmas, especially when the excitement, and hope that is seen on the faces of the beautiful little children. Turn up the volume, watch it on full screen, and read the words to this beautiful song as Alan Jackson sings, “Let It Be Christmas”. I’m betting you will listen to it, and give it another listen [or more] before forwarding it to family and friends. I’m that confident about this song and this video.
