TODAYS FRESH BREAD (CHANGE YOUR MIND) Romans 6:11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. It is sometimes very funny how we define repentance. What I often hear as the definition of repentance is always glued to sin. It is often defined as feeling sorry for your sins, asking for forgiveness and forsaking them. It is easy to identify thesinning class when its time for prayer in churches. With this definition, people really feel guilty and condemned if they do what they promised God they wouldnt do again; that is, what they felt remorse for, confessed and decided to forsake. Repentance is a simple word, but we have successfully made it complex. There are scriptures that says God repented. Does it mean, God sinned, felt sorry for His sin, confessed them and decided not to do it again? Repent, as used in the NT is from the Greek word metanoeo and it simply means to think differently, to change your mind, to reconsider your thoughts, changing what you believe or to think new thoughts. It has to do with what you think. When your thoughts about how God deals with you changes, that is repentance. In the above scripture, Apostle Paul calls for a repentance amongst the Corinth congregation. He encourages then to move from the thought of dying everyday to sin and continuing in sin to increase Grace to knowing and accepting that they are already dead to sin. They are no more linked to sin. They are no more sinners. Jesus changed their status through His cross. Through Him, they are regenerated. And the life of Christ dwells in them. They are not called to battle their sins. Rather to accept that they are really dead to sin. Accepting that you are dead to sin is not when you do not sin anymore. No! You are dead to sin not because you dont sin, but because Jesus died for you and placed you in Himself when He went to the cross. The scripture above begins with likewise. You understand it by considering the previous verses. In the same way that Christ died once and for all to sin, never to die again, consider yourself dead once and for all to sin. In the same way Christ was raised from death, you have a new life unto God. Your life is shaped by what you believe. Right believing leads to right living.... God bless you
