TODAYS FRESH BREAD (DEAD ONCE) Romans 6:2 God forbid. How shall - TopicsExpress

TODAYS FRESH BREAD (DEAD ONCE) Romans 6:2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? One thing that we keep hearing been preached is the message of dying everyday to sin and worldly passion. This erroneous teaching comes from a statement Jesus made to His disciples before going to the cross. Jesus said, if any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me Luke 9:23. This scripture is beautiful in its context, but when taken out of context, it is harmful. When Jesus said this to His disciples, He wasnt talking to them about spiritual death. The disciples by then didnt know anything spiritual about the cross. We see the cross as having a spiritual meaning because Jesus died on one. They knew that, when the cross was mentioned, it meant death (not spiritual but physical). When Jesus told them this, He meant they should be prepared to die everyday because they could be killed at any time. This was because, following Jesus was the most risky life by then. It was against Roman rules and against Jewish beliefs. The Romans could kill them at any time and the Jews could stone them at anytime. When Jesus died, we died with Him spiritually. Our spiritual death took place at the cross. We are (already) dead to sin. You cant die to sin everyday. For you to die to sin everyday, you must be alive to sin everyday. For you to die to sin everyday, Jesus must also die everyday so that you can die in Him. Beloved, the Bible says you are already dead to sin. Consider yourself as truly dead to sin. Thats how God sees you. To die to sin is to be separated from sin. It doesnt mean you will never sin again. It means sin is not in you. God doesnt see sin in you. Your sins no more defines you. Christ Jesus has become you new identity. You may sin, but sin doesnt show who you are any more. It is Christs finished work that shows who you are. As Christ died once and for all, never to die again, you died in Him once and for all, never to die again...... God bless you
