TODAYS JOURNEY ... Jesus said, “I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to render to every man according to what he has done” (Rev. 22:12). The events following His return will not happen over a long period of time, but all of a sudden. Any day, we could meet the Lord, either because He has returned, or because we have passed away. None of us should take life for granted. Although God understands how we see time, He is not bound by it. Second Peter 3:8 says, “With the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day.” Why has He waited so long, from our perspective, to return? Because He “is patient . . . not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance” (v. 9). Each day He doesn’t return allows more people to experience new life in Christ. Are you fulfilling your own goals and desires? Or do you actively invest your life in seeking and obeying the will of God? I pray that we all evaluate our thoughts, activities, and priorities in light of Christ’s return. Jesus could appear at any moment. Will you be ready? Do you look forward to the return of Christ with fearful apprehension or joyful anticipation? Have you ever felt the Holy Spirit leading you into action in preparing for the Lord’s kingdom? How can you use your talents in actively serving the Lord? And be specific.
