TODAYS ROSARY * Sunday 25 January 2015 ( Glorious Mysteries ) 1. The Resurrection. 2. The Ascension. 3. The Descent of the Holy Spirit. 4. The Assumption of Our Lady. 5. The Coronation of Our Lady in Heaven. With Mary, we will understand better the transforming power of the Eucharist. By listening to Mary, we will find in the Eucharist mystery the courage and energy to follow Christ, the good shepherd and to serve him as his people. The Rosary, while Marian in character, is a prayer with Christ at its centre. It contains all the depth of the Gospel message in its entirety. With the Rosary, we sit at the school of Mary and are led to contemplate the beauty of Christ and experience, in a profound way, the depths of his love. To recite the Rosary is nothing other than to contemplate the face of Jesus with Mary as our companion and teacher. Our faith tells us that Christ is really present today as he was 2000+ years ago with his Mother and disciples. What better way, therefore, to get to know our Lord, than saying the Rosary and meditating on his life Queen of the Holy Rosary, you came to Fatima to reveal to the three shepherd children the treasures of grace hidden in the Rosary. Inspire my heart with a sincere love of this devotion, in order that by meditating on the Mysteries of our Redemption which are recalled in it, I may obtain peace for the world, the conversion of sinners, and the favour which I ask of you in this Rosary (Mention your request). I ask it for the greater glory of God, for your own honour, and for the good of souls, especially for my own. I offer this Rosary for the purpose of knowing the Truth and obtaining contrition and pardon for my sins. Amen. Todays rosary prayers are the Glorious Mysteries: Christs resurrection (Matt. 28:1-8) Contemplating on the Risen One, Christians rediscover the reasons for their own faith and relive the joy not only to those whom Christ appeared, but also the joy of Mary, who must have had an equally intense experience of the new life of Her Glorified Son His ascension into heaven (Acts 1:6-11) By rising Jesus from the dead, God has conquered death and in Jesus he has definitely inaugurated his kingdom. During his earthly life, Jesus was the Prophet of the Kingdom; after his passion, resurrection and ascension into heaven, he shares in Gods power and in his dominion over the world The sending of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:1-2) The Holy Spirit is the gift that comes into our heart together with prayer. The Holy Spirit not only enables us to pray, but guides us ‘from within’ in prayer: he is present in our prayer and gives it a divine dimension. Prayer through the power of the Holy Spirit becomes the ever more mature expression of the new man, who by means of this prayer participates in the divine life Marys assumption into heaven In the ascension, Christ was raised in glory to the right hand of the Father, while Mary herself would be raised to the same glory in the assumption, enjoying beforehand, by a unique privilege, the destiny reserved for all the just at the resurrection of the dead Marys coronation in heaven Crowned in glory, Mary shines forth as the Queen of the Angels and Saints, the anticipation and the supreme realisation of the eschatological state of the Church Let us pray: O God, whose only begotten Son, by his life, death and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life; grant, we beseech you, that meditating on these mysteries of the most Holy Rosary of the Blessed virgin Mary, we may both imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise, through Christ our Lord. Amen
