Please stop doing this. There is no such thing as a Ladies Auxiliary in the American Legion. The organization is The American Legion Auxiliary. They have their own National Charter and deserve the respect that goes with it. The VFW has a Ladies Auxiliary, the DAV has a Ladies Auxiliary, and as such they are governed by those parent organizations. That is not the case with the American Legion Auxiliary. Post Commanders have no control over the Auxiliary Unit. District Commanders have no control over The Auxiliary. You do not own their funds, you do not govern their programs, you do not tell them when or where to hold meetings. They are not the SAL or Legion Riders or Baseball Team. While affiliated with The American Legion, they are not subservient to it. The American Legion Auxiliary exists to promote and support the programs and goals of The American Legion. It is disrespectful and lazy to refer to these women as the Ladies Auxiliary. It is flat-out wrong to think that they, or their programs such a Poppy Sales, in any way are under Post or District jurisdiction.
