TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL FOCUS 8/21/2013 “Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.” Philippians 2:3. If you were a parent of a four year daughter, how would you respond, say if you were the mother, when she came rushing in from the yard yelling with a bleeding hand obviously in pain? Can you even imagine the following scenario? “Susan, hold your other hand under the dripping blood to keep from getting any on the floor as you go to the bathroom lavatory and hold your hand over it until the bleeding stops. When it stops, go on to bed and don’t bother me. I’m trying to watch a movie!” I feel certain that no true mother or father could tolerate such a cruel attitude. Yet, as God sees all His children, His heart reaches out in love to those who struggle and are injured by sin or injustice. While some of us may deserve injuries we receive, God takes no pleasure in our suffering. Do we see through the eyes of our LORD? God thought enough of us to give His life through Christ to reach out to is in love. Paul’s words make sense to those of us who see through the eyes of Jesus. In Him we can think more of those whom we love than we do our own welfare. What love!!!
