TODAY’S FRESH BREAD (RETIRED SCHOOLMASTER) Galatians - TopicsExpress

TODAY’S FRESH BREAD (RETIRED SCHOOLMASTER) Galatians 3:24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. Yesterday, we saw Apostle Peter saying that the Law is a yoke that even He and the other Apostles could not carry. Today, let’s look at the ultimate purpose of the Law. In almost all his writings, Apostle Paul tries to show us why going back to the law for moral conduct and righteousness is a rejection of the Grace of Jesus Christ. In the above scripture, Apostle Paul compares the Law to a Schoolmaster. What was this schoolmaster teaching us? I think we can take a clue from Paul’s lesson with the Law as he explained in Romans 7. The Law showed him how sinful he was, even though he desired to live by it to attain holiness. Sin took advantage of the holy Law and multiplied in him. The Law brought him to the end of himself until he cried out, ‘O wretched man that I am! Who shall deliver me from the body of this death? (Romans 7:24)’. That is the purpose of the Law; bringing you to an end of yourself and showing you the need of the savior The Law came so that sin will increase and we will see the need for the savior. The Law came so that all will know that, there is no way we can please God by our obedience and therefore the need for Grace. The Law came to point you to Jesus Christ. So the LAW is not the real deal; JESUS CHRIST IS THE DEAL. Beloved, the Law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified (made/declared righteous) by faith. If so, then righteousness does not come by obeying the Law but by having FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST. I love what the next verse says, ‘But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster’ (Galatians 3:25). After we have believed in Jesus Christ, the Schoolmaster (Mr. Law) has ended his assignment and therefore does not function again. He is on retirement. The Law does not end after you start manifesting righteousness. It’s work ended the very time Christ died on the cross. Salvation and righteousness are through faith in Christ. You are no longer under the Schoolmaster (the Law) to obey it…… Good morning
