TODAY’S WORD: 3rd October, 2013 Acts 16:16-18 And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying: The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation. And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour. It is very important to know that it is not all that say Jesus is Lord that are really saying it out of a sincere heart or with good intensions. That someone is saying what looks like the whole gospel or something of very high moral standard is not a guarantee that the fellow means well. The demon possessed girl in our text for today had an intension for doing what she did with Paul and his team, the bible says she …CRIED, SAYING… meaning for many days she shouted after the apostles. What was her intension? To drown the voice of Paul thereby causing her voice to be heard so she can create a platform to later demonstrate or teach the real thing for which she came. Our world today is full of people with very beautiful things and stories which look very harmless and inviting from afar until their real intension is understood or exposed. The home movies today are full of stories which seem to teach ``basic facts of life’’ but the real intension is to promote immorality judging from the conscious way nudity is displayed. And these are what children of God feed themselves with day and night. Child of God, there is no lesson you can learn from those movies which is not in the bible. Jesus says in Matthew 7:18; A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Be wise; if the container is corrupt definitely the content is bound to be corrupt. May God grant us discernment by His Spirit to guide our choices in life in Jesus name.
