TODAY’S WORD: 4th March, 2014 I Corinthians 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. God’s word is the conveyor belt that carries His power, salvation and deliverance to us, so it should not be toyed with whenever it comes to us. There is this saying of the ancients that: the dog that is destined to be lost will not recognize the whistle of the hunter when it’s blown. Our text says that the word of God no matter how powerful it may be preached, to some people who want to perish it comes as foolishness. If every time you listen to the preaching of God’s word you find yourself analyzing, criticizing or rationalizing it, it may just be that you are on your way to destruction, you are about to perish. I have learnt over the years not to condemn or criticize any word I don’t understand that comes from the pulpit. But anyone that is willing and ready to perish will always ask concerning the word, what the hell are these people saying? This should not be your case; the word of God is the power of God. Philippians 1:15-19;Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will: The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds: But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel. What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice. For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ. When next you have the opportunity to listen to God’s word, listen with great expectation. Take what pertains to you and use them and for the ones you don’t seem to understand, seek clarification or leave them to God. God bless you.
