TOMORROW - 10/30 - 11:30am MST SoPE Webinar featuring Victor Castro: He had a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Delaware, specifically concentrating on Biomechanical Engineering. He has worked in the medical device industry for almost 10 years, in which time he worked for large, public companies and small, private entities. He started his company (Lightbulb Consulting, formerly CADstro Design) about 7 years ago, specifically to help small to medium sized medical companies offload some of their design and drafting work. The more work he did, the more he realized that these companies needed help with their overall product development process, not just designs. Since about 2009, he has been working with medical device companies and individual doctors to bring products to market. He is also largely involved in the startup community in my area, and am currently working on a project to start a medical device and digital health startup incubator on Long Island. Arlen and Victor will be speaking mainly about what are the differences between doctors and engineers, and how can they bridge those difference gaps in order to innovate. They cover a lot of different aspects of this in our conversation. Particularly, to name a few: what are some things that doctors should know about engineers? What kind of technical people should physician entrepreneurs look to partner with? What is the typical engineer consultant fee? What are some of the ways to mitigate the risks that are present when looking at a new product innovation. We look forward having the SoPE Community Tune in: beta.webcme.net/streams/sope#!
