TONIGHT! Potluck Productions, an area organization that showcases scripts by emerging women playwrights through professional readings and staged productions, will present its next First Friday Play Reading on Friday, June at the Uptown Arts Bar, 3611 Broadway, Kansas City MO 64111. The show will feature four short plays written by area women and performed via dramatic readings by seasoned actors. The playwrights include Alice Carroll, Tasha Cerny, Charlotte Nodarse and Lezlie Revelle. Lezlie Revelle will direct. • In Mismatched by Alice Carroll, a young woman prepares to meet her apparently perfect match that she has been chatting with online for months. Everything changes when the “perfect match” sends a stand-in to their first scheduled rendezvous. • In Closure by Tasha Cerny, two former lovers meet years after their break-up. She wants to know why a man who claimed he wasn’t ready to settle down so quickly married and started a family. • In Kilo India Delta Zulu by Charlotte Nodarse, military officials strategize the retaking of a critical arsenal from the enemy. Their planning is undermined by the general’s bodacious wife and his mother in this clever comedy. • In Wayne by Lezlie Revelle, a young woman summons a lost friend via a séance. When he appears, much is revealed about the nature of their unique, conflicted relationship. Come early to catch the musical prologue to Potluck’s June play reading. Lezlie Revelle, a local singer, songwriter and recording artist, will perform a 30-minute set of original music from 7:15-7:45p.m. $5 gets you into both shows!
