TOOME GFC NOTES 26/08/14 Senior Team: We welcomed our old friends Blackhill to St Victors Park last Wednesday. The lads put in a very encouraging display, winning 1-16 to 1-7 in the end. Attention now turns to Killanny away on Wednesday 27th (throw in 7pm) and Killeevan at home on Sunday 31st (throw in 1pm). Under 16s: Well done to the under 16s on a brilliant win last Thursday against Blayney to book their place in the semi finals! We play Clones away on Thursday 4th September at 6:30pm. Sam Dykes kept a clean sheet in goal, pulling off 3 important saves. John Gorman and Shane McGeough were rock solid in the full back line, catching, tackling and anticipating anything that came their way. Keane OReilly, Stephen Blessing and Kevin Tibby got through a mountain of work in the half back line, surging forward to support the attack as well. Our county men, James Wilson and Frank Connolly led by example in midfield, covering every blade of grass in St Victors Park. Matthew Carolan, Bartek Karpiński and Kevin McCooey in the half forward line all played well, providing a threat throughout, while young James McMahon and Eoghan Watters led the line well in the full forward line, proving to be a real handful. Igor Wojitas and Joseph Harte provided energy and work rate when introduced. Full Time: Toome 0-20, Blayney 0-4. Well done lads!! Under 14s: the shield final v St Tiarnach Sarsfields (Clones and Killeevan) has been confirmed for Saturday 6th September. Time and venue to be decided. Under 10s and Under 8s: Training every Saturday morning at 11:00. New players are always welcome! Nursery Games: Toome Nursery Games for U-6s continues every Friday at 6.30pm in Toome Centre. New members are very welcome, so come along and join in the fun. Club Gear: Can still be ordered with Margaret Donaghy or Irene Connolly. Rounders: Rounders for ladies continues every Monday evening at 6pm in Toome! Note earlier time. Ladies of all ages are invited to take part in a fun way to keep fit! Contact Irene for further details. AstroTurf: For bookings on our 3G all-weather facility contact Louis @ 087-6503826. Lotto: No winner of the jackpot this week, numbers: 7, 9, 26, 28. Lucky Dip: Kitty Mooney, Drumgoose; Bridie McShane, Coolskeagh; Alison McCaghey, Annalitten; Alan Lambe, Annalitten; Mary Kate Thompson, Dundalk. Deepest Sympathy: To the family and friends of the late Eileen McDonnell, who died last Friday. Together with her husband Gene and daughter Olivia, Eileen was a great supporter of the club over the years, and her sons Thomas, David and most notably Aidan all wore the Toome jersey, with grandson Cormac continuing the tradition. Eileen was a keen golfer, and will be sadly missed by all in the community. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam dilis.
