TOP POST VACANCY The South African National Editors Forum supports a free press, the right of the media to work without fear of reprisal or intimidation, and is committed to encouraging ethically-driven media. POSITION: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR The Forum requires the services of an experienced director/manager to play an important role in the transformation of the organisation. The director will be responsible for implementing structural and institutional reforms to make the organisation more effective in line with its constitutional and public expectations including advocating for media freedom. This position reports directly to SANEF Management Committee and Council. The applicant would be expected to initiate meaningful interventions to fast-tract the free flow of information in the public interest between government structures, business and the industry. In addition, the successful applicant must have exceptional fundraising abilities which require leadership qualities and excellent interpersonal skills to handle and motivate potential donors in and outside the media industry. To qualify for this senior position, the applicant should preferably be: • A graduate with knowledge of various media platforms and industry issues (not necessarily have journalism experience) • Minimum 3 years management experience. • Able to structure and manage budget. • Have knowledge of drafting and presenting fundraising proposals. • Be prepared to work long hours. • Be prepared to travel In return to your skills and experience we offer a negotiated salary and a range of attractive fringe benefits which can be expected of prestigious non-governmental organisation such as Sanef.
