TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST SEVERE WEATHER WARNING for HEAVY RAINFALL For people in the Wide Bay and Burnett, Southeast Coast and parts of the Capricornia Forecast Districts. Issued at 6:13 pm Friday, 23 January 2015. Synoptic Situation: Thunderstorms and areas of heavy rain, which may lead to flash flooding, are expected to continue in the warning area this evening. Currently, the heaviest rain is occurring in the western Wide Bay and Burnett district associated with a thunderstorm near Mundubbera, and in the Caboolture area where recent hourly falls have peaked around 50mm. Heavier rain may redevelop later this evening. Locations which may be affected include Gold Coast, Brisbane, Maroochydore, Gympie, Bundaberg, Ipswich, Moreton Bay and islands, Kingaroy, Noosa, Hervey Bay, Fraser Island and Hervey Bay waters. Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should: * Avoid driving, walking or riding through flood waters. * Keep clear of creeks and storm drains. * For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500. The next warning is due to be issued by 12:15 am Saturday. Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureaus website at bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 219. The Bureau and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
