================================= TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST ================================= INITIAL FLOOD WATCH FOR CENTRAL QUEENSLAND AND COASTAL AREAS BETWEEN TOWNSVILLE AND BUNDABERG Issued at 4:20 pm EST on Tuesday 20 January 2015. - Courtesy of the BoM. Issue Number: 1 A trough over central Queensland with an embedded low is expected to deepen over the interior of the state during Wednesday, producing areas of heavy rainfall to the east of the trough from Wednesday through to Friday. The low should weaken and move off the Central Queensland coastline during Saturday. Rain areas, showers and thunderstorms are expected with some heavy rainfall likely. Widespread daily rainfall totals of between 50 mm to 150 mm are expected, with locally heavier falls in excess of 200 mm possible with thunderstorms. River level rises above the minor flood level are likely. Heavy rainfall may also lead to localised flash flooding. The Flood Watch area includes the following catchments: Black, Bohle, Ross, Haughton, Burdekin, Don, Proserpine, Pioneer, Fitzroy, Calliope, Boyne, Baffle, Kolan, Burnett, Condamine-Balonne, Warrego.
