TOPIC #1: The Correct Usage of Good Day Since last year I have seen and received formal letters even on text messages which started by Good day! Good day is the literal translation of the Hiligaynon and Cebuano Maayong adlaw, and Tagalog Magandang araw. As I recall my Translation Subject under Prof. Rabulan, the concept of translation is that you translate the thought, NOT the literal equivalent of a certain word/s. A person writing a letter means to be polite. To be sure that greetings are correct, the letter writer does not write or say Good day, Good morning, or Good afternoon because the letter might come on the afternoon or morning. If you really want to be safe, the letter writer writes, Christian greetings, greetings, and other appropriate greeting/s.
