TOPS & TROUSERS MONTH- LOL , Is it my imagination or is Elvis playing a little flamenco guitar with no strings? TOO funny. Im an Elvis fan,with some caveats. I dont think the title The King has ever been fair......Elvis was able to rise to the heights that he did, due to a lot of racism at that time. He could be dangerous at a time, when other artist like Chuck Berry ( who,if anyone can be called The king I think he should get it. A fine writer,musician & showman) & Little Richard couldnt . Chuck was almost lynched one night in Mississippi, because a young white girl got up on stage & planted a wet one on his cheeks, during a show. They had to sneak him outta there. Having said that.....Elvis was an extremely gifted & charismatic singer & performer. He also was a very original artist ,that synthesized his influences just as any artist does. My step Father (African American) said he saw Elvis at the Oakland Auditorium in the late 50s. He told me, at that time, the vibe was like you were seeing an outlaw. It was NOT Vegas Elvis.
