Raise prices constantly--to even double or more the going rate, and applies onerous fees. Not customer service oriented at all--only about ripping you off. I should also mention that they operate under Hellers Gas and Gardner Gas Hauling. I had nearly the exact same situation as JohnShady. They delivered gas automatically without ever telling me such terms or me agreeing to automatic delivery. It then took over a year for them to acknowledge a "will call" request. Even after being put on "will call", they still delivered gas without my consent. It took having them remove the tanks from the property to get them to stop. They then charged me nearly $200 in fees to remove the regulator/tanks. The tanks were on property when I moved in. The last delivery they charged $3.39/gal, which was $0.42/gallon more expensive than EIA averages. Another local supplier is $1/gallon cheaper. Back Mountain Gas DBA as Hellers Gas and Gardner Gas Hauling have horrible business practices. They will deliver gas when the market prices are the highest and still jack the price up. They do not honor their "will call" terms. I have filed complaints with the BBB and Attorney General. For my initial order, they actually gave a decent rate. After the complaints, they jacked my prices up to more than the cost of a gallon of gasoline. Completely ridiculous! Was this helpful? Yes (1) No Flag abuseAdd a Business Response 1 stars JohnShady 01/13/2012 Very very shady company. Very very shady company... I would definitely stay away and order your propane from someone else. There are many other options in the back mountain but stay away from Back Mountain Bottled Gas. They auto delivered my propane even though I told them I didnt want auto delivery. Gave me an invoice for $3.10 a gallon but when I called other dealers locally I was getting quoted around $2.60 to $2.70 at the time. I called back mountain to complain about price so they told me they would give it for $2.70. If I DIDNT CALL to complain they would have charged me for .40 cents a gallon more. I got a slip when they delivered the propane that said how many gallons they gave me but my official invoice in the mail billed me for 4 extra gallons as well. They charged me $5.95 for a late fee one month then $8.95 for a late fee the next time since I had complained about the bill. The biggest liar there is the guy Don. I asked him for quote one time for propane and he gave me the run around about how expensive it is and couldnt work with me on the price even though I was a long time customer.. Knowing guy was shady I had my wife call the next day from a different phone number and say she was a potential new customer and Don quoted her .50 cents less per gallon if she switched over to their company. Just stay away.. they are really shady and its not only me I have friend who used to be customers that said the same thing
